Toy Drive for Children's Ward at Kaiser Hospital

On Thursday, December 18th, Webelos Den Leader, Alan Stevens, and Den 8 parent, Kim Woodruff, accompanied five Cub Scouts from Pack 928 to the Children's Ward at Kaiser Hospital on Zion Avenue, to deliver the toys our pack had collected in our 2008 toy drive.
The generous donations of the scouts and the families of Pack 928 brightened the spirits of the 17 young patients spending the Christmas season there. The boys and girls in the ward ranged in age from 2 months old to 22 years, and the boys had something appropriate for everyone. One seven year old little girl who chose a Polly Pocket set for her gift, called out to the other kids in the ward, " The Cub Scouts are here, the Cub Scouts are here!", as the boys left her room.
Our Cub Scouts were respectful and compassionate to all the children in the ward and expressed genuine concern for the children who appeared to be the most ill. It was a valuable experience for all involved.
The Cub Scouts who took the toys to the hospital were, Sam, Matthew, and Caleb, from the Webelos den, Kacey, who represented the Bear den, and Kean, from the Wolf den. Our Boy Scout representative and Webelos Den Chief, Albert Blatler, assisted the boys and their parents with the gift giving. Albert and his mother, Chris, who also accompanied the boys on their rounds, volunteer their time at the hospital.
