December Holidays, Crafts, and Toy Drive

HELP CELEBRATE DECEMBER AND THE HOLIDAYS with your own special "Work of Art". Pack 928 will work on a Holiday Craft at our December Pack Meeting on the 13th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium at Marvin Elementary.

We are collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Kiwanis Club of Grantville-Allied Gardens to deliver to the Children's Ward at Kaiser. Please bring your toy to the meeting.
Join us on December 30th for the Big Bay Balloon Parade downtown. We will be joining several Scouts as we carry banners for the parade. Come on out and help or watch the parade!

Den 2 Tours the USS Jefferson City

Pack 928 Webelos Den 2 had the privilege of touring the USS Jefferson City submarine on November 7th, 2010. It was a real honor and treat to be able to go onboard and see what very few people get to see. Many thanks do Mr. Andy for arranging the tour!

November - Citizenship

NOVEMBER - TIME TO GIVE THANKS! Our Scouts will be celebrating Thanksgiving this month, along with the rest of America. We have plenty to be thankful for! Pack 928 is off to a great new Scouting year. Welcome to all of our new Scout families!
Our Webelos I and II Scouts will attend "Webelos Woods" November 5-7.
Don't forget to give those who served our country a big hug and say "Thank You" on November 11 for Veterans Day.
And, we have a great Pack Meeting lined up for Monday, November 29th at 6:30pm at Marvin. We are looking forward to a special program, so stay tuned for more information.

The Core Value of the month is Citizenship: Contributing service and showing responsibility to local, state, and national communities. Citizenship is an obligation we all share as Cub Scouts and leaders. One of the key components of being a good citizen is helping others.

Costumes and Pumpkins

JOIN PACK 928 FOR A FUN-FILLED EVENING OF COSTUMES AND PUMPKINS! Join us at our October Pack Meeting on Monday the 25th, 6:30pm at Marvin Elementary. Scouts and their siblings are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes. Those who wear homemade costumes can join in our costume contest. Also bring a decorated pumpkin if you like for the Pumpkin Auction. If you are in the mood to decorate an ugly pumpkin, enter it into our Ugly Pumpkin Contest too! It will be a SMASH!

WANT TO FIND OUT ABOUT CUB SCOUTS? Come join us at a special information and sign-up meeting for Pack 928 at Marvin Elementary. Our "Roundup" meeting is Tuesday, October 5th at 6:30pm. Boys and their parents are welcome to attend to see what Cub Scouts are all about. If your son is in 1st through 5th grade and you live in area, regardless of what school he attends, you can join us. Come by and check us out!

September Events

PACK 928 SEPTEMBER EVENTS:
Popcorn Sales begin Saturday, September 11th. This is our main fundraiser for the year. Help your Den and your Pack be able to do all the fun stuff we do throughout the year!

California Coastal Cleanup Day - Saturday, September 25th. Join us at Lake Murray from 9am to noon as we help clean up around the lake. This is a wonderful Community Service opportunity for our scouts.

First Pack meeting of the school year is on Monday, September 27th at 6:30pm. Meet us at the Marvin Elementary auditorium. We'll have all the summertime awards, plus an Ice Cream Social! If you want to see what Pack 928 is all about, please join us for this meeting. Guests are always welcome!

Update on Raingutter Regatta

UPDATE ON THE RAINGUTTER REGATTA...the Pack 928 Raingutter Regatta is being rescheduled. It will NOT take place at the camping event on August 20-22. Stay tuned for information on the new date and location for the Raingutter Regatta soon.

Let's Go Camping!

LET'S GO CAMPING WITH PACK 928! Get ready for a weekend of family camping at the William Heise County Park with Pack 928. Be sure to bring your Raingutter Regatta boat for the annual Pack race at the campsite. There will be some hiking, a campfire with a Flag Retirement Ceremony, and some outdoor cooking. There is a rumor of a Dutch Oven Cook-off between the Webelos I and II Scouts. Expect some yummy desserts!

Happy Birthday America!

JULY 4th - Independence Day - Happy Birthday America! As we all are enjoying cookouts, fireworks, and celebrating with family and friends, take a few minutes to reflect on why we can enjoy all these great things in America...it is because of the sacrifices that our forefathers made many years ago, and that our military are continuing to make today.

Cub-anapolis and Family Picnic

CUB SCOUT PACK 928 is ready to race! We are running a Cub-anapolis on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Allied Gardens Pack. Scouts and siblings will race their homemade box cars against each other, complete with hazards and pit stops! After the race, there will be a end-of-year celebration with a Family Picninc.

Congratulations to all the Scouts in Pack 928! Thank you for a great Crossover Ceremony on May 24, 2010. Your Pack Leaders are proud of you all! Best wishes for our WEBELOS II Scouts who crossed over to Boy Scouts.

In the Spotlight

THE CUB SCOUT THEME FOR MAY IS "IN THE SPOTLIGHT"! Share the spotlight with the Scouts in Pack 928 this month. We will march in the annual Allied Gardens SpringFest Parade on Saturday, May 8th. March in the parade and stick around to enjoy all the entertainment, amusements, and food.
Help us celebrate all of our Scouts at the special Crossover Ceremony on Monday, May 24th. Join us at 6:30 pm in the auditorium at Marvin Elementary as our Scouts move up to the next level in Scouting, and our WEBELOS II Scouts cross over into Boy Scouts!
Finally, join us on Saturday, May 29th at Ft. Rosecrans Cemetery as we help honor our military heroes as we place flags in preparation for Memorial Day.

Pack Meeting and Arrow of Light Ceremony Monday

JOIN PACK 928 ON MONDAY, APRIL 26th for a very special Pack Meeting. We will be conducting the Arrow of Light Ceremony for our WEBELOS II Scouts who will be receiving the highest award in Cub Scouts! We will also hold our annual Cake Auction! Bring a cake (homemade or store-bought) for auctioning. This is a fun fundraiser for our Pack!

Scout Fair and San Diego 500

THANK YOU TO ALL THE SCOUTS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN PACK 928 who helped out with the Map & Compass Belt Loop booth at the Scout Fair on Saturday! Thanks to your time and efforts, we helped well over 100 young Scouts earn their Belt Loop!

Our Pinewood Derby Pack winner Aaron from Den 2 competed in the San Diego 500 at the fair, and made it to the final round for the Mission District. Way to go Aaron!

Pack Meeting Monday

CUB SCOUT PACK 928 MARCH MEETING IS MONDAY, MARCH 22, 2010.
Our monthly Pack Meeting is Monday, starting at 6:30 pm at Marvin. Join us for Songs, Skits, Awards, and more...rumor has it we will be in for special treat...all we can say is that the evening will "come alive with crawling and slithering creatures..."

Ready for Blastoff!

IT'S PINEWOOD DERBY TIME FOR CUB SCOUT PACK 928! Scouts, get your cars ready to blast down the brand new Pinewood Derby track! Come on out on Saturday, March 13th at noon to check out the track and have a few practice runs with your car and get it fine-tuned. Then, come back on Saturday, March 20th at noon for the Pack 928 Annual Pinewood Derby. Both the practice and race will be held at the shuffle board courts in Allied Gardens Park. Let's see who will be able to claim the fastest car in the Pack! Awards will also be handed out for different categories, so get creative on your designs. Let's get ready to race!

Cub Scout Pack 928 Blue & Gold Celebration

Chivalry Lives! The Scouts and families of Cub Scout Pack 928 enjoyed an evening of entertainment, awards, good food, family, and friends, at the annual Blue and Gold Banquet, held on February 22nd. King Arthur and Sir Percival of Chivalry Today, demonstrated the virtues of Knighthood through the Code of Chivalry. Four scouts received first hand experience on the proper use of a sword, lance, joust, shield, and medieval armor. Everyone learned how Chivalry still lives in modern day heroes...just like our own scouts and scout leaders.

HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY TO THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA! 2010 marks the 100th year of the Boy Scouts in America. Cub Scout Pack 928 will be celebrating this month with the "Blue & Gold Banquet". Join us for an evening of celebration, food, and entertainment on Monday, February 22, 2010, at 6:00 pm in the Marvin auditoruium.

HAPPY NEW YEAR CUB SCOUTS! 2010 is here, and we celebrate 100 years of Scouting this year! Look out for the "Adventure Base 100" event coming to San Diego on January 8-10 at the Westfield Mission Valley Mall. There will be plenty of other events planned throughout the year too.
Pack 928 will enjoy a weekend at Mt. Laguna in January from the 15th - 17th. Join us for hiking, crafts, games, and more!
Our Pack Meeting will be a special treat this month. On Monday the 25th we will have a Box Car Drive-in Movie night, starting at 6:00 pm. Bring your custom decorated "box car" to the drive-in!
